In the world of Null City… Superpowers suck. If you just want to live a normal life, Null City is only a Metro ride away. After one day there, imps become baristas, and hellhounds become poodles. Demons settle down, become parents, join the PTA, and worry about their taxes. But outside of Null City, now that the century-long secret Nonwars between Gifts and Haven are over and the Accords Treaty is signed, an uneasy peace is policed by Wardens under the command of the Accords Agency.

Liam is an ungodly soccer-playing card sharp on a mission from God. Eirie is a beautiful punk fairy princess with her own daytime radio talk show. They’ve worked cases for the Accords Agency before, but with war between realms looming and her baby sister as the bargaining chip, partnering just got personal.
Payback is a Witch
Claire Danielsen is a young witch whose goddess is house cat of unusual size. Peter Oshiro is a Warden policing a delicate truce between those who are human and those who… aren’t.
It just would have been nice if someone told them the angels were all on the other side.

Payback is a Witch
I was immediately thrust into Claire’s world. A a witch and the last member of her family, the weight of responsibility lies heavy on her shoulders. She is a top Warden for the Accords agency, and as such, she needs to be closely guarded. The director of the Accrods Agency assigns someone to watch over her and that someone turns out to be former flame, Peter.
The romantic sparks fly as Peter attempts to rekindle their romance, however, while Claire certainly loves Peter, she wishes to keep him from harms way.
Although this story was a short, it felt like a lot if information was compressed into it. At times, this slowed the pace down with expository backstory. However, the author does enough to maintain interest throughout. The characters are engaging, I particularly liked Bygul – the cat, and I enjoyed every aspect. A good read and a cleverly built world to enjoy, along with the characters in it.

Of the two stories, this was my preference.
I adored the characters – punky Eirie and sexy Liam, the interaction between the two was so well executed. The relationship between them is fun, flirty and charming. I really have nothing negative to say about this story.
Full of mystery and suspense, charm and sass – I really enjoyed it.
